Inauguration of the Centre for Urban Governance and Sustainable Development

Venue: CNR Rao Seminar Hall

The Centre for Urban Governance and Sustainable Development was inaugurated at REVA University to promote research, dialogue, and capacity-building in the fields of urban governance and sustainable development.

The event was graced by Mr. Tushar Girinath, Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Development Department, Government of Karnataka, as the Chief Guest, who spoke on the importance of sustainable urban planning and the role of academic institutions in supporting effective governance.

Professor Sairam Bhat, the Guest of Honor, highlighted the connection between law, governance, and sustainable development, emphasizing the need for interdisciplinary research. Advocate Dhanya Mallar, the Special Guest, shared practical insights on governance, public participation, and legal frameworks for sustainable urban development.

The Centre is headed by Prof. Nazneen Zafar, Assistant Professor, School of Legal Studies, REVA University, and aims to advance research, policy engagement, and stakeholder collaboration in urban governance and sustainability.

The event was also graced by the presence of Dr. M. Dhanamjaya, Registrar, REVA University, and Dr. Aruna Kammila, Director, School of Legal Studies, REVA University, whose support and encouragement have been instrumental in the establishment of the Centre and its vision for academic excellence and societal impact.

The inauguration marked the beginning of an important academic initiative dedicated to fostering inclusive, resilient, and sustainable urban communities.
