Tech-Enabled Terrorism and the Rise of Hybrid Threats

The School of Geopolitics and Public Policy (SGPP) was honoured to host Dr. Abhinav Pandya, Founder of Usanas Foundation, for an enriching and informative lecture on “Tech-Enabled Terrorism and the Rise of Hybrid Threats” as part of the Certificate Course on “India’s National Security in the Age of Techno-Geopolitical Disruptions”.

During the session, Dr. Pandya highlighted the evolving landscape of modern terrorism and the growing misuse of emerging technologies by extremist networks. He elaborated on how terrorists are increasingly leveraging drones, encrypted applications, online gaming platforms, cryptocurrencies, and generative AI tools to spread propaganda, coordinate operations, finance activities, and recruit individuals through the virtual world.

The lecture also shed light on the alarming trend of targeting vulnerable groups, including children aged 8–12 years and women, with recruitment efforts beginning at a very young age through digital platforms and psychological manipulation.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Pandya for delivering a truly enriching and eye-opening session that served as a source of motivation, awareness, and inspiration. His valuable insights encouraged students to engage more deeply with contemporary strategic and national security challenges while developing a greater understanding of the complex hybrid threats emerging in the digital era.

The programme was organised by SGPP, Faculty of Liberal Studies, REVA University, in knowledge partnership with Chintan Research Foundation (CRF), Chennai Centre for China Studies (C3S), and Usanas Foundation.
