Dr. Nagendra has been working on the design and synthesis of some novel peptides and peptidomimetics and their intermediates. His expertise led to the insertion of thioamide, 1,3,4-oxadiazole, 1,3,4-thiadiazole, Triazole, Tetrazole, Urea, Thiourea, Selenourea, glycosylated amides etc into the peptide backbone. He was involved in the total synthesis of Cyclosporin-O an immunosuppressive drug and also design of Ugi-MCR reactions. He successfully completed the synthesis of therapeutic analogues for lobeline and 241D towards tobacco cessation and their evaluation, synthesis of new anti cancer agents to inhibit EGFR and AKT. Currently he focuses on the total synthesis of natural peptides and their analogs, green synthesis protocols for the synthesis of metal/metal oxide nano particles and their application in organic synthesis. He published around 40 research papers in reputed national and international journals, 2 book chapters and for patents.
